Dennis did well to land this lump on light pole tackle

Smallford, along with our Frogmore complex, is open all year round. This deep water is favoured for it's carp fishing with numerous specimens to nearly 30lb - sadly the new 41lb fish died recently..

But there's plenty of other species to attract members and those in the know have been having some great bags of bream and tench during May. Young Dennis Revell is included in this elite bunch and although on this occasion he didn't break the 'ton' he did claim over 70lb of quality bream to 5lb+ along with this bonus 15lb 9oz linear mirror. All caught on pole tactics with pellet to a 16 hook and 3lb (0.12mm) line.

Other fish reported recently include bream to 9lb, tench to over 7lb along with plenty of small fish and perch to 2lb.

Meanwhile, down the road at Frogmore, Richard Bateman made an early start on the Car Park lake and, by midday, had recorded 17 carp averaging over 8lb for an estimated total of 140lb. Both lakes generally are fishing well with biggest carp reported at 17-08.

As usual I've been under whelmed with pictures of your catches. Either you're all too modest, don't carry cameras or just can't catch.

So thanks again to the Pringle family for this reminder that Riverside opens on the 7th and is ideal for young and old, male and female - we even have proper toilets !

On the subject of Riverside, at the last count some 170 trout were still swimming free out of the 550 stocked and the water is looking very nice with plenty of fish, particularly single figure carp, cruising around on warm days. Crayfish removal continues as so fingers crossed these shouldn't be a problem. By the way, instead of feeding pellet, try hemp...the carp love it and the crayfish aren't so keen.
