Happy Dace are Here
Again
 |
|
Something wonderful is
happening down at Marford. Whilst the majority of members are
chasing the barbel and carp (reported to 8lb+ and 14lb+ this
season) the dace have been making a comeback.
Leave the meat and pellets behind, dust off your stick floats
and closed face or centre pin reels and have a go for the dace
and roach. In the right swim you should find plenty of hard
fighting dace as big as herrings, up to 8oz even, plus plump
silvery blue roach to 1lb or more. And, to keep it exciting,
you're bound to pick up some greedy chub! Nice..
|
Meanwhile, other venues
reports include:
Smallford: Plenty of small
fish in the deep bay, plus pike to 18lb and a carp of 27-04
reported.
Riverside: Best results late in the afternoon. Bags of small carp to
6lb on pellet from their usual haunts, odd roach and bream.
Leasey: Small barbel and chub all over, a roving approach can work
when the venue is quiet.
Frogmore: All lake levels now at max. Plenty of small carp and the
occasional eight pounder from the match lake. Pellet and diced meat
working well. Carp to double figures, plus nice tench, skimmers and
big perch reported from the car park lake; chopped worm and caster
best.
Ouse: Whispers of double figure barbel and very big chub. All very
secretive. Please share

Any other business
Your Committee are concerned that the poor
catch rates and access problems of 2003
could result in reduced applications in
2004. We plan to stock in greater quantity
at the start of the season as well as
increasing the overall stocking level. We
have agreed with Fisheries to improve
casting access by the removal/pruning of
trees and bushes and to make the Cormorant
protection more fly fishing friendly. We
hope we can continue to receive your support
to make the 2004 Season as enjoyable as past
years.
Attendees will be given priority in
selecting their preferred fishing day. Those
unable to attend should contact Carol
Pickering on 01727 767409 ASAP thereafter to
reserve their preferred date

Riverside Carp
Your wonderful website editor popped down to
Riverside on the day after Boxing day to bag
six carp on pole and pellet. These three
came on the first three put-ins before a
change of weather conditions prompted a
change of swim and three more carp around
the same size soon followed.
|
 |
|
 |
Also at Riverside, member Paul Hewett took
time out to bag a few Autumnal shots back in
October.
Thanks Paul, looking forward to your next
batch. |
