Barbel Bonanza

A few members have recognised that big barbel 'above Bedford' don't only live at Adams Mill.....

.    

Colin Downes and John Tamulty have had great success with several double figure fish from Felmersham in recent months, the largest nearly 13lb.Flood conditions have slowed things down a little but I'm sure they be on the fish again as soon as the waters drop back a little.

Frogmore Progress

This project looks like being a regular for the next few months. Members will be delighted to learn that Phase 4 - the original pit sandwiched between the match lake and the M25 - has been reworked by the removal of numerous old trees and timber. In just a year or so, all being well, we hope it will transform from something resembling a Louisiana swamp into a fine tench and crucian water. 

 

There's still a lot of work to be done and right now the mud is soft deep and very DANGEROUS. But, with a warm, dry spring nature will soon turn the banks from brown to lush green (and the water from green to clear and sparkling).

 

There's to be no rush to fill the water with fish. SO, if you'd like to comment on the current plans why not drop the club a line in time for discussion at next year's AGM.

Reports this month from around our waters include a brace of 7lb bream from the top end at Radwell, Smallford was reported as fishing quite well;. 23lb carp, 20lb pike and 9lb bream reported. At Turnford carp to 27 and 30 lb carp reported. Finally Frogmore Match Pool has benefited from ANOTHER stocking of 1700 carp. That's 3,400 in total - and they're all shoaled up in front of peg 15!!
Match News: Despite the wet weather winning weights remain high with 35lb required to win at Smallford recently  and 26lb at Frogmore (well done Paul Bangs and Lee Chittenden).Brian Larkin (pictured right) even abandoned his VAC chums to fish a Barnet DAC match on the GUC and stormed the match with 37lb of chub  - Click here for details of recent VAC Championship Rounds.
